This customer reached out to Sun4Light for help brightening their family room. VELUX recommends skylight light cover ten percentage of a living area. In a truss-built home, it is not possible to cut or reframe rafter openings due to a structural change. Given this home was framed twenty-four inches on center rafters, we were able to select skylights that fit between the rafters and did not require cutting or reframing. The VELUX Deck Mounted C-series units were the best fit measuring 21 inches wide and 26-70 inches long. Deck Mounted Skylights come standard with laminated loe3 glass and qualify for a 10-Year Hail Glass Breakage Warranty. The North Carolina Department of Insurance requires impact glass in all windows, doors, and skylights for homes located in Wind Zone 3 or 4. For this project, two VELUX FS C08 units with impact glass, corresponding flashings, and solar-powered blinds were installed. Not only did the project qualify for a 10-Year NO Leak Warranty, but the entire project qualified for a 30% solar tax credit.
